Who: Northstar California Resort is the premier ski and snowboard resort in Lake Tahoe offering elevated family experiences both on and off the mountain. The resort is known for its on-mountain champagne t?st, afternoon s’mores in the Village and pristine corduroy runs.
What: The resort opens with access to terrain on East and West Ridge, including stunning views of Lake Tahoe. For exact terrain and lift availability, follow @NorthstarMTN on Twitter and check
Where: Located halfway between Kings Beach and Truckee, Calif., Northstar California is centered around Mount Pluto, the extinct volcano that once erupted to help form Lake Tahoe. The resort summit sits at 8,610 feet where Summit Smokehouse Bloody Mary’s are topped with bacon and served to an Adirondack-chair ridden outdoor patio.
When: Northstar California opens Friday, Dec. 1 at 8:30 a.m. to the public after a record-breaking winter of snowfall during the 2016-17 winter season.
Why: New this year, skiers and snowboarders can now begin the day at sunrise with First Tracks, where Adventure Guiding and Learning Center mountain guides take two intimate groups on a tour of the mountain before lifts open to the public. This shamelessly indulgent experience gives private access to freshly groomed runs and sparkling powder across the entire mountain.
Women can also take part in Her Mountain, new female-specific programming designed to ski, rejuvenate and indulge. The experience is offered as a two-day luxury retreat or a women-only ski or snowboard lesson offered on weekends.
