Northstar California Kicks-Off Summer Operations in Late May, Offering Families Golf, Bike, Hike and Daily Village Events and Activities

Opening Day for Northstar California’s extensive variety of summer adventure and activities is set for Friday, May 27, kicking off Memorial Day weekend festivities for the entire family to enjoy. The mountain and village summer grand opening will kick off mountain biking, hiking and all village activities, dining and shopping to guests.   
Mountain Bike Park opens Friday, May 27, introducing new Specialized Academy
Northstar California Resort invites riders to celebrate opening day of the Northstar Mountain Bike and Hike Park Friday, May 27, with mid-to-base descents via the Big Springs Gondola and Village Express.  Northstar will offer lift-served access Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., with daily mountain access beginning Friday, June 24, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. with Friday evening riding extended to 7 p.m. New this summer, Specialized and Northstar are proud to introduce the first ever Specialized Academy, offering premium freeride mountain bike lessons on world-class Specialized equipment at Northern California’s largest lift-served bike park. The Specialized Academy at Northstar features small group lessons with personalized instruction from IMBA certified coaches. Whether guests are looking to explore freeride biking for the first time or to improve technical ability and speed, the Academy has the terrain, equipment and coaching to make it happen.     
The Free-Ride Unlimited Pass is again available for summer 2016 starting at $369, which includes unlimited summer mountain bike access to Lake Tahoe’s Northstar California and Kirkwood Mountain Resort, as well as Vail Mountain and Keystone Resort in Colorado, and Canyons in Park City, Utah. 
Northstar’s Summer Fun Pass offers an all-inclusive day of adventure and activities
This summer the Summer Fun Day Pass offers an all-inclusive day of activities to be enjoyed by kids and kids-at-heart, all summer long. With one pass guests are able to have a full day of excitement and adventure both on and off the mountain. The Pass includes a chair lift scenic ascent up the Big Springs Gondola where guests can hike around the mountain and enjoy lunch on the deck of the Lodge at Big Springs. Village activities help round out the family fun day with access to the only mini golf in Truckee featuring challenges scattered throughout The Village, allowing guests to meander the cobblestone walkways as they move from hole to hole. Kids will love gem panning through the sluice of running water atop The Overlook and get to bring home gems, stones and even arrowheads they’ve found. Guests can soar sky high on the Northstar Bungee trampoline, scale the climbers and show off their best moves on the 9,000 square foot roller skating rink as live music plays from The Village Stage. 
Northstar Event Calendar
With daily special events and traditions scheduled throughout summer and fall, Northstar California invites guests to choose among bike race and running events, culinary experiences including wine walks and Brewmaster dinners, live music performances, and beyond.  Guests can visit the Northstar event calendar to find events spanning May through October.   
Northstar Golf Course tees off Friday, May 20
The championship, 18-hole Northstar Golf Course offers Tahoe’s best resort golf value in the Sierra Nevada region with summer season passes starting at $379; spring greens fees starting at $40 and summer greens fees starting at $50. Golfers can opt to apply a day’s greens fee toward the purchase of a season pass.  Overlooking the Martis Valley meadow landscape, Northstar’s links-style course is challenging but playable for all skill levels. Golfers can learn and improve through private and group lessons including women‘s short game and full swing clinics, junior clinics, and two-day junior golf schools.
